Functional Movement Screen

The Functional Movement Screen captures fundamental movements, motor control within a movement pattern and the competence of basic movements.  It will determine the greatest areas of movement deficiency and demonstrate limitations or asymmetries.  The screen is comprised of seven movement tests that require a balance of stability and mobility.  People that score low on the screen may be using compensatory movement patterns that may put them at a heightened risk of injury.

This short video that I made describes how each test is performed. It is a quick and easy to administer screen, that allows the practitioner to assess the movement efficacy of the athlete, and then provide corrective exercise when required.  These corrective exercises can then be used as a part of a structured warm up, tailored to the specific needs of the individual.
